Bridal Makeup Matters

10/13/2011

When you are a Maine bride, you and your guests know that your appearance is on display during your ceremony and reception. A Maine bride wants her face to look beautiful for her wedding.

Some brides will apply their own makeup for their wedding, but others will use a professional makeup artist. No matter your preference, avoid trying out a new look on the day of your Maine wedding. Instead, decide on the colors you are going to use. Try them a few times before your wedding day.

If possible, wear your makeup to your wedding venue before your celebration. Then take some of your own photographs to view. This will ensure that you like the way your makeup appears under the lights.

Ask your photographer if he has taken photographs of any brides at your wedding venue. You can also ask the Maine wedding venue coordinator if he has any photographs of brides. Browse available bridal pictures. Satisfy yourself that the colors photograph well under the room's light.

If you are purchasing new makeup, wear samples at least a full day before making a final selection. Make sure mascara does not run, eyeliner stays put and your lipstick color is the right shade. Your reception will probably last at least four hours, so you want your makeup to appear fresh.

Pay attention to your neck and shoulders on your Maine wedding day. You want the exposed skin near your face to match. Use foundation or powder to ensure that your pictures will not reveal an uneven skin tone.

Remember to protect your dress when putting on makeup. Before applying makeup near your dress, tuck a towel into the neckline to prevent stray makeup from damaging it.

Check your makeup periodically during your reception. Bring a makeup bag to your Maine wedding, so you can touch up your makeup with everything you need. Most Maine wedding venues have a bridal room to store it. Since you will enjoy your wedding album for years, you want your face to look perfect throughout your big day.

All the planning and anticipation come down to one day, where you are the center of your friends’ and families’ universe. And while it’s joyful and exciting, you feel as though you’ve run a marathon when it’s over. So when the wedding and reception have come and gone, you will need...
