Finding a Wedding Song for That Special First Dance

10/13/2011

When a Maine bride has music at her wedding, only a few songs usually stand out when the band or disc jockey plays them. Choosing a wedding song for your Maine wedding reception is a task that a Maine bride may often share with her groom. The first song for your initial dance should be memorable at your Maine reception. Your video may showcase the song, and the words should be meaningful to you.

Some couples instantly agree on the wedding song that they will play at their Maine venue. They may have shared a special song throughout their relationship. Other couples may have to identify a song they feel is appropriate for their wedding reception.

If you must find a song, ask your disc jockey or band to recommend a list of wedding songs. Browse the titles. If the furnished list does not satisfy you, search online to find a suitable song title for your reception. Often you can hear the song on your computer too. Next, view the lyrics of the songs and decide whether any of them appropriately express the nature of your relationship or love.

You may like more than one selection. Listen to the songs to decide if the melody and beat coincide with the mood you want during your reception. Try to pick a song that accents the theme of your wedding. For example, a slow, romantic song may be perfect for a fairy tale theme wedding, but you may prefer a song that is fast for a Caribbean theme wedding. Some Maine brides may want a romantic, slow song while others may prefer an energetic song that promotes a festive atmosphere.

Next, try dancing to the song. Remember, the bride and groom will be dancing alone for at least part of the song. Your guests may watch you dance, so you want a song that makes you feel confident while you dance.

Once you make your final selection, continue to practice dancing to it. Your special song will help make your Maine wedding day an event you will remember.
