Keeping the Kids at Your Wedding Behaved and Happy

10/13/2011

Although your Maine wedding ceremony and reception will consist of primarily adult guests, you may have some children attending too. During a long afternoon or late evening reception, children can get cranky and irritable. As a Maine bride, the last thing you want is a screaming, unhappy child at your Maine reception.

Fortunately, there are many Maine brides who include children on their guest list without having any disruptions at their wedding. If you prepare in advance, you can help ensure that children at your Maine reception remain well-behaved and pleasant throughout the celebration.

If your Maine wedding reception is at a hotel, arrange for an extra room and put sleeping bags in it. When children get tired, they will have a place to relax. Parents can take turns monitoring the room, or you can have a babysitter watch the children.

Consider hiring a babysitter to watch children while they are at your Maine wedding. The babysitter can dress appropriately for the wedding and sit at the children’s table. This will help keep the children well-behaved. It also allows parents to enjoy themselves at your Maine wedding reception.

A babysitter can also keep the kids entertained in a nearby room if they get bored or unruly. Inexpensive activities that can keep them happy include coloring, watching television or playing a game. Often you can hire teenagers to babysit inexpensively.

Talk to your band about entertaining the children. It may be worth hiring an extra dancer who can keep the kids busy on the dance floor.

If you invite a lot of children, you may want to hire entertainment that children and adults will enjoy. For example, a magician is highly appropriate for a carnival theme wedding and can entertain adults and children. Photos or caricatures can also provide entertainment and a favor that your guests will appreciate.

Planning recreation and babysitting services at your Maine reception takes a little bit of time and effort. Nevertheless, the results will reduce stress during your Maine reception. As a Maine bride, you deserve to arrive at your Maine venue and enjoy your day.

And while it’s joyful and exciting, you feel as though you’ve run a marathon when it’s over. So when the wedding and reception have come and gone, you will need...
